- In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm milk, sugar, and yeast.
- Stir and let it sit for 5–10 minutes until the surface becomes foamy. This means the yeast is active.
2. Make the Dough
- Add the softened butter, salt, egg (if using), and half of the flour to the yeast mixture.
- Mix until well combined, then gradually add the remaining flour, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface (or use a stand mixer with a dough hook) for about 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
3. First Rise
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean towel or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
4. Shape the Rolls
- Punch down the dough gently. Roll it out on a lightly floured surface to about ½-inch thickness.
- Cut into squares (traditional Texas Roadhouse shape) or use a round cutter if preferred.
- Place rolls on a parchment-lined or greased baking sheet, spaced slightly apart.
5. Second Rise
- Cover and let the rolls rise for another 30–45 minutes until puffy.
6. Bake
- Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C).
- Bake rolls for 15 minutes or until golden brown on top.
7. Serve
- Brush warm rolls generously with melted butter.
- Serve immediately or store in an airtight container once cooled.
Optional: Cinnamon Honey Butter Spread
