Texas Roadhouse Rolls – Buttery, Fluffy & Homemade

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm milk, sugar, and yeast.
  2. Stir and let it sit for 5–10 minutes until the surface becomes foamy. This means the yeast is active.

2. Make the Dough

  1. Add the softened butter, salt, egg (if using), and half of the flour to the yeast mixture.
  2. Mix until well combined, then gradually add the remaining flour, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface (or use a stand mixer with a dough hook) for about 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

3. First Rise

  1. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean towel or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

4. Shape the Rolls

  1. Punch down the dough gently. Roll it out on a lightly floured surface to about ½-inch thickness.
  2. Cut into squares (traditional Texas Roadhouse shape) or use a round cutter if preferred.
  3. Place rolls on a parchment-lined or greased baking sheet, spaced slightly apart.

5. Second Rise

  1. Cover and let the rolls rise for another 30–45 minutes until puffy.

6. Bake

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C).
  2. Bake rolls for 15 minutes or until golden brown on top.

7. Serve

  1. Brush warm rolls generously with melted butter.
  2. Serve immediately or store in an airtight container once cooled.

Optional: Cinnamon Honey Butter Spread
