Directions
- Melt the butter in the microwave until fully liquid. Stir in the brown sugar until smooth and well combined.
- Pour the butter and brown sugar mixture into the bottom of a 9 × 13-inch baking dish and spread it evenly across the base.
- In a medium bowl, beat the eggs, milk, and vanilla together until fully blended.
- Lay a single layer of Texas toast slices over the brown sugar mixture, fitting them snugly into the pan.
- Spoon half of the egg mixture evenly over the bread, making sure each slice is lightly soaked.
- Add a second layer of Texas toast, then spoon the remaining egg mixture over the top, pressing gently so the bread absorbs the custard.
- Cover the dish tightly with foil or plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight. This resting time allows the bread to fully soak up the custard.
