Overnight French Toast Bake with Brown Sugar Butter

Directions

  1. Melt the butter in the microwave until fully liquid. Stir in the brown sugar until smooth and well combined.
  2. Pour the butter and brown sugar mixture into the bottom of a 9 × 13-inch baking dish and spread it evenly across the base.
  3. In a medium bowl, beat the eggs, milk, and vanilla together until fully blended.
  4. Lay a single layer of Texas toast slices over the brown sugar mixture, fitting them snugly into the pan.
  5. Spoon half of the egg mixture evenly over the bread, making sure each slice is lightly soaked.
  6. Add a second layer of Texas toast, then spoon the remaining egg mixture over the top, pressing gently so the bread absorbs the custard.
  7. Cover the dish tightly with foil or plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight. This resting time allows the bread to fully soak up the custard.
