Prepare the oven and pans
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper to prevent sticking and ensure even baking.
Mix the wet ingredients
In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter and granulated sugar until smooth and glossy. The mixture should look slightly thickened and well combined.
Add the eggs and vanilla extract, whisking until fully incorporated. The batter should become lighter in color and slightly airy.
Add the dry ingredients
Sift in the cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt directly over the bowl. Mix until smooth and no dry pockets remain. This step ensures even distribution and a smooth chocolate batter.
Fold in flour and chocolate chips
Gradually fold in the flour just until combined. The batter will be thick and brownie-like. Gently stir in the chocolate chips, making sure they’re evenly distributed.
Portion the dough
Using a tablespoon or cookie scoop, drop rounded portions of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart. The cookies will spread slightly as they bake.
