Directions
- Prepare Your Tools: Gather a medium-sized bowl, a gallon-sized zip-top plastic bag, a pair of scissors, and a clean spice jar with a shaker-style lid.
- Measure the Base: Add the kosher salt to the bowl, followed by the brown sugar. Break up any sugar clumps so the seasoning blends evenly.
- Add the Spices: Measure and add the garlic powder, garlic salt, onion powder, and turmeric. Sprinkle in the paprika and chili powder for warmth and color.
- Finish with Pepper: Add the freshly ground black pepper. Medium-coarse pepper works best, providing texture and bold flavor without overpowering the blend.
- Mix Thoroughly: Stir the mixture gently but thoroughly until all spices are evenly distributed and the color is uniform.
- Blend Evenly: Pour the seasoning into the zip-top bag, seal it, and shake well. This extra step ensures complete blending, especially for fine and coarse spices.
- Transfer to Storage: Cut a small diagonal corner from the bottom of the bag, just large enough to pour easily. Carefully transfer the seasoning into your spice jar and seal tightly.
