Preparation
- Prepare the Batter: In a medium bowl, beat the 2 eggs with 250 ml of milk, 50 g of sugar, and 1 packet of vanilla sugar until smooth and well combined. This will create the sweet, flavorful batter for dipping the bread.
- Soak the Bread: Dip the slices of stale bread into the batter, making sure they are well-soaked on both sides. The bread should absorb the mixture but not become too soggy.
- Cooking: Heat a pan over medium heat and melt a knob of butter. Once the butter is hot and bubbling, add the soaked bread slices to the pan. Fry each slice for 2–3 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and slightly crispy on the edges.
- Serving: Serve the French toast warm, dusted with powdered sugar or drizzled with maple syrup, honey, or your preferred topping. Enjoy it with fresh fruit for a delightful breakfast or snack!
