The bus seat dilemma: what does it really reveal about your personality?

…And that’s only one of the “bus seating personalities.” Here are a few other common choices and what they can suggest (with an important caveat: seat choice is also influenced by practical things like crowding, motion sickness, safety concerns, available space, and habit).

The different options and their meaning

In the front, near the driver

If you choose to sit in the front row, you are probably a responsible and cautious person. You like to be in control and prefer a safe and predictable environment.
A little nuance: sometimes it’s also about clarity (you want to hear announcements, see where you are, or feel less “trapped” in the crowd).

In the middle of the bus

If you sit in the middle, you often strike a balance between involvement and distance.

  • You like to be “in the flow” without being too exposed.

  • You may be adaptable: comfortable with change, but not seeking it.

  • You tend to choose the “reasonable option” rather than extremes.
