Scotch Egg

Serving and Storage

Scotch eggs can be served warm or at room temperature, making them a versatile snack for any occasion. They pair wonderfully with a tangy mustard dip, pickles, or a fresh salad. Serve them at picnics, gatherings, or as part of a delicious breakfast or brunch spread. They’re also great for meal prep, as they can be made in advance and stored for later use.

To store leftover Scotch eggs, keep them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. To reheat, place them in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for about 10 minutes or until heated through. Avoid reheating them in the microwave, as this may cause the coating to lose its crispness.

Additional Tips

  • If you prefer a spicier Scotch egg, you can add chili flakes or cayenne pepper to the sausage mixture for a little heat.
  • Feel free to experiment with different types of sausage meat. A blend of pork and beef works well, but you can also try using chicken sausage or even vegetarian sausage for a lighter version.
  • For a crunchier exterior, you can double coat the eggs: dip them in the raw egg and breadcrumbs twice before frying.
