Reese’s Peanut Butter Earthquake Cake

Instructions

    1. Preheat your oven according to the instructions on the chocolate cake mix box—usually around 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking pan with butter or nonstick spray, or line it with parchment paper to make cleanup easier.
    2. Prepare the chocolate cake batter according to the directions on the box. Mix until smooth and fully combined, then pour the batter evenly into the prepared baking pan, using a spatula to smooth the top if needed.
    3. In a separate mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and melted butter. Beat with an electric mixer on medium speed until the mixture is smooth and well blended, with no lumps remaining.
    4. Add the peanut butter and vanilla extract to the cream cheese mixture. Continue mixing until fully incorporated and creamy.
    5. Gradually add the powdered sugar, one cup at a time, mixing on low speed after each addition to prevent clumping or sugar dust. Continue until all the sugar is mixed in and the filling becomes thick and smooth.
