How To Make It
- Place a large skillet over medium heat and add the sliced salted butter. Allow it to melt slowly, stirring occasionally, until fully liquefied and gently bubbling. Stir in the vanilla extract, letting it bloom briefly in the warm butter so its aroma becomes more pronounced without browning the butter.
- Add the Cheerios cereal directly to the skillet. Using a spatula or wooden spoon, toss continuously so the cereal is evenly coated with butter. Continue toasting for 3–5 minutes, stirring frequently, until the Cheerios turn lightly golden and crisp and the butter is fully absorbed. Watch closely to avoid scorching, especially during the final minute.
- While the cereal is toasting, combine the granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, and table salt in a small bowl, mixing well so the seasoning is evenly distributed. Once the cereal is golden, sprinkle the mixture evenly over the skillet and toss gently but thoroughly to coat every piece.
- Remove the skillet from the heat and spread the cereal out slightly to prevent clumping. Allow it to cool completely, which helps the sugar coating set and gives the cereal its final crisp texture.
