Garlic Pizza Sauce

Instructions

  1. Sauté the garlic: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, warm the olive oil until shimmering. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30–60 seconds, stirring constantly, until fragrant but not browned.
  2. Add tomatoes and spices: Stir in the crushed tomatoes, oregano, basil, red pepper flakes (if using), salt, black pepper, and sugar (if using). Mix well to combine all the flavors.
  3. Simmer: Reduce heat to low and let the sauce simmer uncovered for 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until slightly thickened. This allows the flavors to develop and meld beautifully.
  4. Blend (optional): For a smoother texture, use an immersion blender to purée the sauce directly in the pot, or let cool slightly and blend in a regular blender.
  5. Cool and use: Let the sauce cool slightly before spreading on pizza dough. Use immediately or store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days, or freeze for up to 3 months.

Tips:

  • Adjust garlic to your preference—add more for a stronger garlic kick.
  • Add a splash of balsamic vinegar or wine for extra depth of flavor.
  • This sauce works great for pizzas, pasta, meatball subs, or as a dipping sauce for garlic knots!
