👩🍳 Instructions
- Preheat oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9-inch pie plate generously with butter, oil, or nonstick spray.
- Mix the batter: In a medium mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, softened butter, milk, and egg. Beat until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
- Pour into the pie plate: Pour the batter into the greased pie plate. Use a spatula to spread it evenly.
- Add pie filling: Spoon the canned fruit pie filling into the center of the batter, leaving about 1 inch of space from the edges. Do not stir! The crust will bake up around the filling on its own.
- Sprinkle the top: If using apple or peach filling, sprinkle the top with cinnamon sugar. For other fruits, plain sugar works great.
- Bake: Place in the preheated oven and bake for 35–40 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the crust is fully set.
- Cool and serve: Let cool slightly before slicing. Serve warm, optionally with whipped cream or ice cream.
