Classic 5-Minute Fudge (Old-Fashioned & Foolproof)

Finishing & Setting

  1. Add the Marshmallows: Remove the saucepan from the heat. Immediately stir in the marshmallows, vanilla extract, and chopped nuts if using. Continue stirring until the marshmallows are completely melted and the fudge mixture is thick and uniform.
  2. Pour and Smooth: Pour the hot fudge into the prepared pan. Use a spatula to spread it evenly into the corners and smooth the top.
  3. Cool: Allow the fudge to cool at room temperature until fully set. This usually takes about 1–2 hours. For faster setting, you may refrigerate it once it has cooled slightly.
  4. Slice: Once firm, cut into neat squares and serve.

Tips for Success

Stirring constantly during the boiling stage prevents grainy fudge and ensures a smooth finish. Use a heavy-bottomed saucepan if possible to maintain even heat.
