Chili Cheese Dog Bake Dinner (Easy Comfort Classic)

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 6×10-inch or 7×11-inch baking dish and set aside.
  2. Prepare the Chili: Pour the chili into the baking dish and spread it evenly across the bottom. This creates a flavorful base that keeps everything moist as it bakes.
  3. Prep the Cheese: Remove the string cheese from its wrappers and cut each piece in half lengthwise to create two long strips. Set aside.
  4. Prepare the Dough: Open the can of pizza dough and roll it out gently on a clean surface. Cut the dough into 4 equal sections, one for each hot dog.
  5. Assemble the Hot Dogs: Take one hot dog and place a strip of cheese along each side, pressing gently so the cheese stays in place.
  6. Wrap the Dough: Starting at one end, wrap the dough around the hot dog and cheese bundle, covering it completely from end to end.
  7. Place in Pan: Place each wrapped hot dog seam-side down into the chili-filled baking dish, spacing them evenly.
  8. Bake: Transfer the dish to the oven and bake uncovered for 20–25 minutes, or until the dough is fully cooked and beautifully golden brown on top.

Garlic Butter Finish & Serving

  1. Prepare Garlic Butter: While the hot dogs are baking, mix the melted butter with garlic powder and chopped parsley until well combined.
  2. Brush & Finish: Remove the baking dish from the oven and immediately brush the tops of the hot dogs generously with the garlic butter. This adds flavor and a glossy finish.
  3. Rest & Serve: Let the dish rest for a few minutes before serving so the cheese sets slightly and the chili thickens.

Helpful Tip

To avoid a doughy bottom: Place the wrapped hot dogs into the baking dish first, then carefully pour the chili around them instead of underneath. This allows the dough to bake more evenly while still soaking up flavor.
