- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Lightly grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
- Press the brown sugar evenly into the bottom of the pan, packing it down gently so it forms an even layer.
- Spread the ketchup evenly over the brown sugar, creating a thick glaze base.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the meatloaf mix, beaten eggs, milk, chopped onion, and bread crumbs. Mix gently just until everything is combined — avoid overmixing to keep the meatloaf tender.
- Carefully press the meat mixture into the loaf pan on top of the ketchup layer, smoothing the surface slightly.
- Bake uncovered for 1 hour, or until the meatloaf is fully cooked and the edges are bubbling.
- Remove from the oven and carefully pour off the excess juices into a bowl. Discard the juices.
- Let the meatloaf rest in the pan for 10 minutes to firm up.
- Invert the loaf onto a serving platter or cutting board so the brown sugar–ketchup glaze is on top.
