A few minutes later, the elevator doors opened. A young man, elegantly dressed, stepped forward briskly. Upon seeing him, he bowed immediately, his voice full of respect:
« When did you arrive unannounced? Why didn’t you call me to come and get you? »
The entire lobby froze. It was discovered that it was the young hotel manager — the one whom the receptionist and all the staff respected.
The manager turned to the receptionist, his face suddenly stern:
« This is my benefactor. If this man hadn’t lent my father money long ago, our family would never have recovered. And this hotel wouldn’t exist. From now on, whenever he comes, consider him our most important guest. »
The receptionist paled and stammered:
« I… I didn’t know… »
The peasant simply smiled and waved his hand:
« It’s nothing, we all make mistakes sometimes. I only hope that in the future, you won’t judge people by their clothes or their modest appearance. »
The director clasped his hands:
— This debt, I will never forget it.
At these words, the entire hall held its breath. The truth was revealed, to everyone’s astonishment. The simple peasant, scorned just moments before, was in fact the benefactor behind the director’s resounding success.
