Her stepmother forced her to marry a poor security guard rather than her wealthy suitor.

A tall, handsome man in a suit smiled at her through the car window.
« Excuse me, » he said. « Can I give you a ride? »
« No, thank you, » Faith replied quickly. « It’s fine. »

But he didn’t leave. He walked slowly beside her, talking, trying to make her laugh. When she finally arrived home, he was still behind her.
« Please, go, » she said softly.
« If my mother-in-law sees you, I’ll be in trouble. »

At that moment, her mother-in-law came out of the house.
« Trouble about what? » she asked, looking at the car suspiciously.

Faith froze.
« I don’t know him, Mother. »

The man introduced himself: his name was Daniel. He explained that he simply wanted to get to know Faith better. But the stepmother’s eyes lit up with greed. She immediately invited him in, playing the part of a kind woman.

« She’s already engaged, » she lied easily. « But I have two beautiful daughters, Precious and Anita. You’re going to love them. »

Faith stood there, stunned, while her stepmother called her daughters. They appeared, elegantly dressed, smiling like angels. Daniel smiled politely, took his leave, and departed. But Anita was sent to escort him home.

That’s how it all started. Anita and Daniel began dating.

They went to restaurants, hotels, and other luxurious places, while Faith stayed home scrubbing the floors. Soon, her stepmother and daughters began to fear that Daniel would discover the truth: Faith wasn’t engaged. So they decided to get rid of her.

One evening, Precious brought home a man named Eddie, a security guard who had once admired her.

The stepmother gave a wicked smile:
« Precious is already taken, » she said. « But I have another daughter, Faith. She’s perfect for you. »

Faith’s heart broke. Before she could even protest, her stepmother forced her to meet Eddie. He was poor, with a gentle, shy look, and was visibly nervous.

They went to a small roadside restaurant. Eddie admitted he didn’t have much money, and Faith just smiled.
« That’s alright, » she said softly. « I’m used to getting by with little. »
